What is Terapress-1?
Terapress containing the active ingredient terazosin belongs to a class of medications called alpha blockers. The medication can help relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck to treat difficult or painful urination and urinary frequency or urgency in men diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Some people may also use it in combination with other medication the help relax the veins, blood vessels and arteries allowing for easier blood flow to treat hypertension.
How is Terapress-1 used?
Terapress is usually taken orally 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the treatment. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if your conditions are better, as there are generally no visual signs for hypertension.
Adverse effects
Patients using Terapress may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Drowsiness
- Blurred vision
- Fatigue
- Lightheadedness
- Stuff nose
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Irregular heartbeat
- Fainting
- Sexual function problems
- Swelling of the hands, ankles or feet
- Unexpected weight gain
- Shortness of breath
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Terapress-1 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
