What is Thyro3?
Thyro3 is a brand of Liothyronine Sodium, a synthetic version of a thyroid hormone usually produced by the thyroid gland. Some people do not produce enough of this hormone and require treatment with Liothyronine Sodium to avoid the negative effects of hypothyroidism. Liothyronine Sodium is a synthetic version of triiodothyronine (T3), one of the two hormones made be the thyroid. It can be used alone or in conjunction with thyroxine (T4) - the other hormone produced by the thyroid gland.

How is Thyro3 used?
The dosage of Liothyronine Sodium you will require will depend on a number of factors including your age, weight, medical history, other treatments and the severity of your condition. The treatment does not correct the problem with the thyroid gland that led to hypothyroidism, so you will need to take this medicine for the rest of your life.

Adverse effects
Side effect of Liothyronine Sodium are very similar to the symptoms associated with hyperthyroidism. Side effects you may experience include:

• weight loss
• tremor
• headache
• upset stomach
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• stomach cramps
• nervousness
• irritability
• insomnia
• excessive sweating
• increased appetite
• fever
• changes in menstrual cycle
• sensitivity to heat

Warnings
Thyroid hormones effect how efficiently the body can metabolise other drugs. Hypothyroidism reduces the effect of the body on drugs, so patients with hypothyroidism can take longer to metabolize and eliminate drugs from the system. Conversely, hyperthyroidism can cause the body to speed up the elimination of drugs. These are important considerations if you are taking any other medicines with Liothyronine Sodium.

Liothyronine Sodium can be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Thyroid hormones do not cross the placenta easily, and only a very small amount of thyroid hormone will be found in breast milk.
