What is Toba Eye Drop?
Toba Eye Drops are considered an aminoglycoside antibiotics type of medication used to treat eye conditions such as conjunctivitis or staphylococci infections. The drops operate by preventing the production of proteins involved with the growth and reproduction of bacteria. This allows the body's immune system to fight the infection naturally while preventing its spread. The eye drops can be used to treat bacterial infections but will not be effective for the treatment of infections caused by a virus or fungus.
How is Toba Eye Drop used?
Toba Eye Drops are usually applied directly to the eye 3 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. As with any antibiotic, always finish the course of medication prescribed by your health care provider as early cessation could result in a relapse of the infection and allow the bacteria to become stronger or more resistant to medication.
The typical application involves tilting the head back and pulling down the lower lid of the eye being treated. Put one drop into the eye and slowly close the eye to spread the medication. Apply pressure to the inside corner of the eye using one finger in order to keep the medication from draining into the tear duct. If additional dosages are required, wait at least 5 minutes before administration.
Adverse effects
Patients using Toba Eye Drops may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Eye tenderness or discomfort
- Burning or irritation of the eyelid
- Swelling of the eye or eyelid
- Increased ocular pressure
- Delayed healing of wounds
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Inform your health care provider if you have glaucoma as this medication can cause increased ocular pressure and deteriorate your symptoms. Also disclose if you have any other infections in your eye.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Toba Eye Drop is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
