What is Tretin Cream?
Tretin Cream (Tretinoin) is a type of retinoid medication generally used to provide quick healing for acne. It works by unblocking the pores to allow the skin's natural oil producing glands to function properly and decrease the formation of blackheads and spots. It can be used in the treatment of acne but cannot be used to cure the condition. It may also prevent hair loss and even reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles.
How is Tretin Cream used?
Tretin Cream (Tretinoin) is usually applied topically once per day unless otherwise directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the gel, wash your hands and affected area with mild soap and allow to air dry for 20 to 30 minutes. Apply a small dose with the fingertips to the affected area and massage it in gently to cover the entire affected area. Your acne may become worst in the beginning of your treatment as it is working on pimples forming inside the skin. The medication may take up to 8 to 12 weeks to notice the results from the treatment.
Adverse effects
Patients using Tretin Cream (Tretinoin) may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Warmth or stinging at application site
- Lightening or darkening of the skin
- Dry skin
- Worsening of acne
- Blistering, crusting or scaling of the skin
- Eye irritation
- Oedema
- Increased sensitivity of the skin to UV light

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Tretin Cream (Tretinoin) is not always suitable for all patients.
