What is Ultraproct Ointment?
Ultraproct Ointment is a combination medication containing cinchocaine a local anaesthetic and fluocortolone a corticosteroid type of medication. It can be used to reduce itching and inflammation as well as relieving pain. It is usually used as a short term relief (5 to 7 days) for symptoms of piles (hemorrhoids) and anal itching.
How is Ultraproct Ointment used?
Ultraproct Ointment is usually applied topically twice daily or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Before using the ointment, wash your finger, the anus and the area around it gently but thoroughly. Squeeze a small amount of the medication on the tip of your finger and spread it gently over the skin and just inside the anus. If the affected area is inside the anus, use a nozzle to apply the ointment.
Adverse effects
Patients using Ultraproct Ointment may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Skin thinning
- Allergic skin reactions
- Decreased functioning of the adrenal gland
- Mental or mood changes
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
The medication should not be used for more than 7 days.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Ultraproct Ointment is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
