What is Urimax?
Urimax containing the active ingredient tamsulosoin belongs to a class of medications called alpha blockers. The medication can help relax the muscles around the prostate and bladder to help men improve urination. It can help with difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream and the need to urinate urgently or frequently in men diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
How is Urimax used?
Urimax is usually taken orally once daily or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken 30 minutes after the same meal each day. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the medication. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not split, chewed, crushed or broken before consuming.
Adverse effects
Patients using Urimax may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Back pain
- Runny or stuffy nose
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Vision problems
- Fainting
- Painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 or more hours
- Difficulty ejaculating
- Signs of infection
- Oedema
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Urimax is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
