What is Valzaar-160?
Valzaar containing the active ingredient valsartan is considered an angiotensin II receptor antagonist type of medication. The medication works by blocking certain natural substances to prevent blood vessels from narrowing which will allow blood to flow with enhanced ease through the body and the heart to pump more efficiently. The tablets can be used alone or along with other meditation to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure and to improve survival after a heart attack.
How is Valzaar-160 used?
Valzaar is usually taken orally 1 to 2 times daily or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The tablets can help control hypertension but cannot be used to cure it.
Adverse effects
Patients using Valzaar may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Stomach pain
- Fatigue
- Flu symptoms
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Fainting
- Irregular heartbeat
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing

- High potassium levels
- Unexplained rapid weight gain
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Valzaar-160 is not always suitable for all patients.
