What is Ventolin Inhaler?
The Ventolin Inhaler is used to prevent and treat wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing caused by lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma. The medication contains the active ingredient salbutamol and is considered a bronchodilator type of medication. It works by opening the breathing passages and relaxing the muscles in the airways. Some patients may also use the medication to prevent breathing difficulties caused by exercising.
How is Ventolin Inhaler used?
The Ventolin Inhaler is usually administered 3 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the treatment. When used to prevent bronchospasms caused by exercising, the medication should be applied 15 to 30 minutes prior to exercising. Before the initial dose or if the device has not been used in 14 days, the inhaler will need to be primed before application. To prime the inhaler, simply point the nozzle away from the face and apply several test sprays into the air. Follow the doctor's advice to correctly administer the medication. It is recommended to wait 1 minute between doses for patients that require more than 1 spray each time.
