What is Vermox?
Vermox containing the active ingredient mebendazole is considered an antihelmintic type of medication. The medication is used to treat whipworm, pinworm, hookworm, roundworm and other worm infections. It works by preventing worms from absorbing sugars essential for their survival, depleting their energy stores to lead them to their eventual deaths within a few days. The dead worms will be passed through the system through stools.
How is Vermox used?
Vermox is usually taken orally as a single dose but a second treatment may be given after a few weeks or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the treatment. The tablets can be crushed, chewed, broken or swallowed whole.
