What is Xet-40?
Xet can be used to help treat depression, social anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The active ingredient paroxetine is considered a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) type of medication that can increase the amount of serotonin in the brain to maintain mental balance. Some women may also use the medication to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
How is Xet-40 used?
Xet should be taken with a snack or meal along with a full glass of water once per day to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the treatment. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping the treatment may cause severe withdrawal symptoms.
Adverse effects
Xet may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Headaches
- Decreased appetite
- Dizziness
- Constipation
- Drowsiness
- Weight gain
- Nausea
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Easy bruising or bleeding
- Irregular heartbeat
- Decreased sex drive or performance
- Seizures
- Insomnia
- Hallucinations
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Xet-40 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
