What is Zevert?
Zevert contains the active ingredient betahistine and is considered a histamine analogue type of treatment. It works by improving the blood flow in the inner ear to reduce build up pressure and fluid within the inner ear. It is used to treat attacks of vertigo, tinnitus and loss of hearing caused by Ménière's disease. Some people may also use the medication for obesity management.
How is Zevert used?
Zevert should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually 1 to 3 times daily. The tablets should be taken with or after food and should be taken with plenty of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication.
Adverse effects
Patients using Zevert may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Indigestion
- Headaches
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal bloating or discomfort
- Itching or rash

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Zevert is not always suitable for all patients.
