What is Zigat Eye Drop?
Zigat Eye Drop containing the active ingredient gatifloxacin is a quinolone type of antibiotics. The medication works by fighting and killing the bacteria that is causing an infection in the eye. The solution is mainly prescribed to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (pinkeye) and other eye infections.
How is Zigat Eye Drop used?
Zigat Eye Drops should be applied to the eye as directed by a doctor. The usual dosage for the first 2 days is once every 2 hours, up to 8 times per day. For the following 5 days, the solution should be dropped 2 to 4 times per day. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the medication. Before applying the eye drops, wash the hands first. To apply the solution, tilt the head back, look upwards and pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Place the dropper above the eye and apply the prescribed amount of drops before closing the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place a finger at the inside corner of the eye and apply pressure to prevent the medication from draining. Repeat as needed for additional doses in either eye.
