What is Zithromac?
Zithromac can stop the growth of bacteria to allow the immune system time to kill the bacteria. The active ingredient azithromycin hydrate belongs to a class of medications called macrolide antibiotics. It can be used to treat conditions caused by bacteria such as skin infections, otitis media, respiratory infections and sexually transmitted diseases (STD). The tablets can be used to treat infections caused by bacteria but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
How is Zithromac used?
Zithromac should be used as directed by a doctor, usually once daily. The tablets should be taken with some food along with a glass of water to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct length of treatment and dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the treatment. Do not discontinue the medication without completing the prescribed amount as it may allow the bacteria to return and become resistant to antibiotics.
