What is Zitromax?
Zitromax containing the active ingredient azithromycin dihydrate is considered a macrolide antibiotics type of medication. It works by fighting and stopping the growth of bacteria in the body. It can be used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, upper respiratory tract infection, otitis media, chlamydia and even sexually transmitted diseases (STD). The medication cannot be used to kill viruses that cause the common cold or flu.
How is Zitromax used?
Zitromax is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablet should be taken with food along with plenty of water to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. Continue the treatment until the prescribed cycle is complete as stopping the medication early may allow the bacteria continue to grow and result in a return of the infection.
