What is Zitromax?
Zitromax contains the active ingredient azithromycin and is considered a macrolide antibiotic type of medication. It works by fighting and stopping the growth of bacteria in the body. It can be used to treat bacterial infections such as infections of the ears, sinuses, skin and throat, as well as bronchitis, pneumonia and sexually transmitted diseases (STD). The medication cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the common cold and flu.
How is Zitromax used?
Zitromax is usually taken orally once daily or as directed by a doctor. Take the medication with food and some water to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. The solution needs to be shaken before measuring with a special measuring spoon or device as household spoons may not give you the correct dose. Always finish the prescribed course of the antibiotics to prevent the infection from returning and becoming immune to the medication.
