What is Zitromax?
Zitromax works by stopping the growth and fighting bacteria in the body. The active ingredient azithromycin belongs in a group of medicine called macrolide antibiotics. It can be used to treat bacterial infections such as infections of the skin, throat, sinuses and ears as well as treat pneumonia, bronchitis and sexually transmitted diseases (STD). The medication cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or the common cold.
How is Zitromax used?
Zitromax should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually once per day. To prevent an upset stomach the medication should be taken with water along with some food. Contact a doctor for correct dosage as it will depend on the condition of the patient and their reaction to the medication. Shake the solution well before measuring the dosage with a special measuring device or spoon as household spoons may not give you the correct dose. It is recommended to finish the prescribed course of the medication to prevent the infection from returning and becoming immune to the antibiotic.
