What is Zolax?
Fluconazole is an antifungal medicine. It treats a wide range of infections that are fungal in origin. Fungal infections in various areas of the body can be treated with Fluonazole including mouth, throat, esophagus, lungs, bladder, genital area, and the blood. Fluconazole can also be used to prevent fungal infections in people with compromised immune fuction such as cancer patients, mane marrow transplant patients or patients with AIDS.
Fluconazole is an antifungal of the triazole class. Fluconazole works by slowing fungal growth.
How is Zolax used?
Your doctor will prescribe a specific dosage and timeframe for your infection. Make sure to take Fluconazole for the duration you are prescribed. You must not stop taking it if you are feeling better.
Swallow each Fluconazole capsule whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
Adverse effects
Fluconazole can cause some adverse reactions in some people. Many of these are temporary and minor. Tell your doctor if any of these become a problem or linger:
- headache
- dizziness
- diarrhea
- stomach pain
- heartburn
- change in ability to taste food
The following reactions may be more serious side effects.
- nausea
- vomiting
- extreme tiredness
- unusual bruising or bleeding
- lack of energy
- loss of appetite
- pain in the upper right part of the stomach
- yellowing of the skin or eyes
- flu-like symptoms
- dark urine
- pale stools
- seizures
- rash
- blistering or peeling skin
- hives
- itching
- swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
- difficulty breathing or swallowing
Contact your doctor if you notice any of these.
Warnings
Fluconazole should not be used if you are taking cisapride, erythromycin, pimozide, or quinidine
Tell your doctor if you have:
- liver disease
- HIV or AIDS
- cancer
- heart disease or heart rhythm disorder
- a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome
- kidney disease
- allergies to other antifungal medicine (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, miconazole, posaconazole, voriconazole, and others)
Fluconazole should not be taken by pregnant women or breast-feeding mothers unless advised by your doctor. Fluconazole can reduce the effectiveness of contraceptive pills.
