What is Zovirax Cold Sore Cream?
Zovirax containing the active ingredient aciclovir is considered a synthetic nucleoside analogues type of antiviral medication. The medication works by stopping the growth and preventing the spreading of the herpes virus in the body. It can be used to decrease pain and accelerate the speed of the healing process of cold sores. The cream is not a cure for the herpes virus and may not be used to stop the spread of the herpes virus to other people.
How is Zovirax Cold Sore Cream used?
Zovirax should be applied to the cold sore at the first sign of infection or as directed by a doctor. Apply to the affected area every 3 to 4 hours and gently massage it in.
