What is ZYHCG?
ZYHCG is a synthetic form of the natural sex hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin or HCG. The medication works by helping the body produce mature eggs in women undergoing fertility procedures, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and stimulating ovulation. It can be used in women to treat fertility problems if they haven’t gone through menopause. Some men may also use it to treat a low sperm count as well as delayed puberty in boys and for boys whose testicles have not dropped into the scrotum.
How is ZYHCG used?
ZYHCG should be injected into a muscle only as directed by a doctor. Prior to administering the injection, check the vial for discoloration or particles. If you are using the medication at home, learn all preparation and usage instructions for this product from a health care professional before the initial injection. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage, treatment cycle and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. The needle should be discarded after one use in a safe container.
Adverse effects
Patients using ZYHCG may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Pain at injection site
- Mental or mood changes
- Abdominal pain
- Chest pain
- Oedema
- Signs of early puberty in boys
- Swelling or pain of the breast (in boys)
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
ZYHCG is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
