What is Zyprexa?
Zyprexa containing the active ingredient olanzapine is considered an atypical antipsychotics type of medication. It works by blocking dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain to restore mental balance. The medication can be used to treat symptoms of certain mental and mood conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in adults and teenagers above the age of 13.
How is Zyprexa used?
Zyprexa is usually taken orally once per day unless otherwise directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.
