First of all, it is recommended to pay attention to nutrition.
In hot weather, it is desirable not to eat very fatty foods and minimize salt intake. Eat more vegetables and fruits (try to eat more raspberries, because it is very good for the body). Include lean sea fish and meat in your diet. Use only vegetable oils (walnut oil, wheat germ oil, almond oil, pumpkin seed oil) to make the salad.

Always remember that heat causes fluid loss in the body.
Be sure to drink at least 1.5 to 2 liters of fluid a day to maintain water-salt balance. It is recommended to start each day with a full glass of warm water. Drink it immediately after waking up and half an hour before breakfast. During the day you need to replenish the body with water every 30 minutes (in small portions).
But do not drink carbonated beverages (especially high in sugar), coffee and caffeinated beverages, alcohol. These drinks do not quench thirst, but dilate blood vessels, causing additional stress on the heart. Among the drinks, prefer cool herbal teas or water – both regular and mineral.
-
Reduce physical activity during hot weather.
Try to do all the physical work in the morning and evening. Sedentary lifestyle in the heat leads to exacerbation of hypertension. But when working in the country, follow these recommendations:
- do not bend too much. This pose disrupts the outflow of blood from the head – there may be a sharp rise in blood pressure up to loss of consciousness.
- work in the garden for no more than 30-40 minutes, then rest for 15-20 minutes. If you experience shortness of breath, heart failure, weakness, stop any activity.
-
In the heat of the day, try not to go outside.
Avoid sudden changes in temperature. Stay in the sun for no more than 15-20 minutes. If you experience tachycardia, shortness of breath, immediately hide in the shade or go to a cool room.
-
If you smoke, try to at least limit the number of cigarettes smoked per day.
Smoking prevents the blood from filling with oxygen and thus causes vasospasm.
-
Take a shower as often as possible.
During the heat, the skin becomes an important additional respiratory organ. Regular cleansing allows the skin to breathe much more efficiently. The water should be at room temperature, pleasant for the body. This will help keep the blood vessels toned.
-
Always wear a hat.
Prefer light fabric hats, scarves, bandanas, turbans, etc. Give up tight hats for the summer.
-
Try to avoid synthetic clothing.
It is recommended to choose not tight clothes made of light natural fabrics (cotton, linen, silk) of light colors. This can provide the body with adequate air and heat exchange. You should refuse to wear tight belts that interfere with blood circulation. In the heat, you should also give up high-heeled shoes, this will help avoid swelling of the feet.
-
Take antihypertensive drugs regularly.
Don’t forget to take blood pressure lowering drugs (Biselect 10 or Carloc), this is especially important during the heat!
