With gastritis, sports are not prohibited, but you need to exercise carefully, controlling the intensity of exercise. Exercise improves the cardiovascular and muscular system, bones and prolongs life. Exercise can increase energy stores in a sick person. In this case, the blood begins to circulate faster in the veins, arteries, capillaries and carry nutrients to all organs, including the digestive system. At the same time, the secretion of juice in the gastrointestinal tract increases, the muscles of the stomach and intestines contract faster. As a result, the process of assimilation of nutrients improves, and stool becomes regular.
During exercise, the digestive system functions in “sleep mode” as all the blood enters the working muscles. After training, the activity of the gastrointestinal tract is normalized after 1 hour. Therefore, it is not recommended to eat immediately after training. Also, do not exercise on a full stomach. You can do sports only 2-3 hours after eating. Otherwise, heartburn may occur. In this case, it is necessary to take drugs that reduce acidity, such as Nexium or Losec.
Sport has a beneficial effect on the patient’s body, helps to regulate the digestive process and strengthens the immune system. With gastritis, choose the following sport:
- walking;
- runnig;
- swimming;
- figure skating;
- tennis or badminton;
- cycling;
- aerobics.
The most useful sport is aerobics, because it uses elements of “belly dancing”. During such movements, the internal organs experience a light massage, which improves the flow of oxygen and blood to the walls of the stomach. In gastritis, the intensity of exercise should be determined only individually, depending on gastric motility and personal characteristics. Any exercise aimed at strengthening the abdominal muscles has a beneficial effect on the course of the disease.
During the run, the internal organs feel the same light massage movements as during aerobics. It is also useful to exercise to strengthen the abdominal muscles, as this group of muscles plays a major role in the functioning of the intestines.
Sport in chronic gastritis is necessary, but only in periods of remission. After the period of exacerbation and before the start of exercise, you need to wait 10-14 days. This time must pass so that the body can fully recover. Exercise should be 10-15 minutes a day, gradually and slowly increasing the time of sports training and their intensity.
For any diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, a long stay away from home is not recommended. During long walks it is impossible to follow all the rules of proper nutrition, which, in turn, can cause serious damage to the stomach. However, short walks in the fresh air will bring only positive results. It is also not recommended to overload your body. To determine the optimal load, you must consult a gastroenterologist or family doctor.
