How to preserve and strengthen a child’s dental health

Teeth, like other parts of the human body, play an important role in a person’s life, so you should pay attention to them from a young age. They are not only a means of grinding food for better absorption, but also protection against bacteria entering the mouth. Therefore, strong teeth are needed not only for a beautiful smile that can attract the attention of others. Teeth are also one of the elements necessary for speech. In the general tandem with the cheeks and lips, the oral cavity turns into a kind of “room”. The largest muscle – the tongue – creates sounds during movement, which are later amplified due to the “walls” surrounding it from all sides, and then go outside.

Another reason for careful dental care is diseases such as caries and inflammation of the gums. For example, the consequence of tooth loss can be a number of problems that are directly related to immunity and the digestive tract. Therefore, it is necessary to explain to the child as early as possible how important proper dental care is.

What does this procedure include? First, you need to eat sweets as little as possible, and secondly, check whether the child receives the necessary amount of fluoride per day. If this is not done, harmful microorganisms can multiply in the oral cavity. They secrete harmful substances, acids that later destroy tooth enamel. And the lack of fluorine and sugar and other simple carbohydrates that accumulate on the teeth “attract the attention” of bacteria. As for fluorine, this substance is usually contained in water (according to standards, 1 milligram per 1 liter). Therefore, it is necessary to drink it not only to maintain the balance inside the body. However, in the modern world, de facto, water contains exactly half of the norm, and this problem is widespread in many regions.

Therefore, parents need to be very vigilant and, if possible, implement the following rules:

  1. The child should be taught to eat sweets in certain quantities and after each eaten candy to thoroughly brush his teeth or at least rinse his mouth to wash off the acid that has been released. If it so happened that the child decided to enjoy a delicacy at another time, then let him eat a confectionery product with a carrot or an apple.
  2. Every year the child should visit the dentist to keep the teeth healthy. If the child has a toothache, then let him take Panadol before the visit.
  3. The child should brush his teeth with toothpaste (such as Cheerio Gel) twice a day – in the morning and in the evening. Moreover, the process should last at least three minutes, and the movements of the brush should be, for example, up and down, and not along the gums. The brush should also be comfortable; otherwise the procedure may be unpleasant. If the child does not want to brush his teeth himself, then the process of brushing his teeth should be done together with him. Firstly, this will be an example of how to do it correctly, secondly, all children strive to imitate adults, and so let them do it for their own benefit.
