Plants for a child's health

Plants for a child’s health

A child in a family is not only a great joy, but also a serious concern. Unfortunately, young children get sick quite often. Treatment requires caution, as children’s immunity is only in the process of formation. Some medicines are not always recommended at this age. Of course, if the child’s health is in significant danger, the pediatrician will prescribe exactly the drug needed in the case. But there is usually no need to use strong drugs regularly, for example, with a cold. Many antibiotics and antipyretics suppress immunity and negatively affect the health of the gastrointestinal tract.

In what cases can herbal preparations be used?

Most people think that children get sick mainly in winter. But it is not so. In the spring and summer, children can also often get sick, because:

  • Children are often outdoors;
  • They can swim in cold water;
  • Hands are not always washed well;
  • Children can eat dirty fruits or berries.

In many cases, children’s colds and infectious diseases can be treated with herbal remedies. But, for example, flu should be treated with antiviral drugs such as Antiflu (Generic Oseltamivir). It attacks the influenza virus inside the body to stop it from spreading. Antiflu can be taken to prevent getting the flu, or if you already have the flu it can be taken to reduce the symptoms and decrease recovery time. This disease can have serious complications, so you should not delay treatment, especially since children are at risk.

There are herbal preparations, the composition of which includes several components, and they not only counteract pathogens, but also strengthen the immune system and help other organs to work properly. Most often, such treatment leads to a complete recovery. In addition, the child’s immunity is strengthened and “trained”.

Unfortunately, herbal preparations cannot always help, for example, in the treatment of scabies or pediculosis in children. In this case, it is necessary to apply Permite 5% cream. And remember that this cream should be applied to clean and dry skin from the head to the soles of the feet. And the medication should be left on the skin for 8 to 14 hours before washing it off by taking a bath or shower.

Allergy tests

When prescribing herbal preparations for the treatment of certain diseases, the pediatrician is certainly guided by the individual tolerance of the child to the components of the medicinal product. So, before use, the doctor, with the written permission of the parents, tests the child for allergies. Most often, young children who have had no problems with treatment with conventional drugs have no contraindications to treatment with drugs based on medicinal plants.

Herbs such as valerian, mint, and lemon balm are often included in herbal remedies for children. These plants have calming properties, which is very important when the child does not sleep well or has severe pain, for example, with angina. But parents should remember that even herbal preparations can be dangerous without consulting a specialist.
