Treatment of psoriasis

How to cure psoriasis? This question is of interest to many. There is nothing surprising here, since the disease has rather unpleasant symptoms, for example, destruction of nails, dysfunction of internal organs, inflammation of lymph nodes, conjunctivitis, painful sensations, etc.

Drug therapy

Medicines are used at different stages of the disease. They help to get rid of such unpleasant symptoms as itching and dry skin. In addition, some drugs contribute to the rapid healing of wounds.

Before choosing a medicine, the doctor checks the patient’s condition and the severity of the symptoms. Usually, monotherapy is used for treatment. But it also happens that it is necessary to use several medicines at the same time. Such cases include chronic psoriasis.

For its treatment use:

According to the effect on the body, several types can be distinguished:

  1. Antihistamines. They effectively relieve allergic itching, help normalize sleep and calm the nervous system.
  2. Cytostatics. These products take part in skin regeneration processes and help get rid of papules.
  3. Retinoids. Medicines of this group are also responsible for improving the condition of the skin. They should be taken under the supervision of a doctor, just like other means. They are prohibited for use during pregnancy planning and after conception.
  4. Enterosorbents. These drugs can be useful for people with gastrointestinal problems, because this system has a large percentage of immune tissue. Such drugs will be most effective in the period when the manifestations of the disease intensify.
  5. Antibiotics. They are used in cases of concomitant infection in the body.
  6. Hepatoprotectors. Some medicines for psoriasis disrupt the work of some internal organs, in particular the organs of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it is necessary to take drugs that normalize their work.
  7. Immunosuppressants suppress the work of T-lymphocytes, which can negatively affect the condition of the skin. These drugs are somewhat toxic, so it is necessary to consult a doctor before using them.
  8. Anti-inflammatory drugs. They stop inflammation and relieve pain.
  9. Biological drugs appeared quite recently. Like immunosuppressants, they normalize the work of T-lymphocytes. However, at the same time, immunity is weakened.
  10. Among ointments, it is better to choose those containing Betamethasone Dipropionate, Calcipotriol/Betamethasone, etc. These substances relieve inflammation, improve metabolism, relieve pain and itching.
  11. Shampoos and solutions will help improve the condition of the scalp and hair with psoriasis. It is recommended to use antifungal, children’s or with Betamethasone.

Each of these means has its own contraindications. Therefore, they should be used only as prescribed by a doctor.
